Phyllis wore the hot pants. I was relegated to brown oxfords and long socks which I rolled down before I got to school end pulled them up before I got home.
I finally convinced my Dad to let me have saddle shoes when I was in 7 th grade. My sisters are still grateful. I did wear short skirts. Fun! And wigs! Mine was a hairpiece, not a full wig.
A perm and haircut once a year from Aunt Lena.
But life was full and never boring.
