getting the barn ready

Mandolin’s Ann’s daughter needs bows for the wedding reception in the barn.

Here’s the barn:

We decided it needed a lot of decorating for the potluck square dance wedding reception! So…we got organized. There were a lot of emails about ribbon, an emergency trip to Walmart early one morning for fabric and a day planned to assemble the fall colored decorations.

Linda decides how many loops to use to make a bow.

Having no bow-making skills, I stayed behind my sewing machine and hemmed fabric for tablecloths.

Pretty bows!

quite the obituary

Check out the article here, if you’re having a cup of coffee and slowly entering the day and want to be entertained for a few minutes.

There’s a link to the obituary in the article.  And it’s worth reading.  What a lot of love this son had for his father, and how his family appreciated this man with all of his quirks and personality!

Makes you wonder what our children will write about us…

thinking about a new baby

Well, I’ll bet that blog headline got your attention……

Not that kind of baby, this kind of baby:

BT2-front-taylor-guitars-featured

It’s called a BABY TAYLOR, a sweet little 3/4 size acoustic guitar.

Will keep you posted…

it’s very dark at four in the morning

I need to whine a little bit.

Just for a moment.

In case you didn’t know, getting up at 4 am can be painful.

Getting up at 4 am every single morning can be…excruciating.

Sigh.

But for the next six weeks (and for the past 2 weeks), getting up at 4 am–wince–is the only way I can finish writing the third book in my three-book contract and still have fun.

Fun = music lessons with Hope Mountain Blues

Fun = thrift shops with Janou

Fun = the Newport Bluegrass Festival with DMP

Fun = band practice & potluck supper with the Cougar Creek Band

Fun = sewing tablecloths for Mandolin Ann’s daughter’s wedding reception

Fun = sewing the binding on a quilt

Fun = dinners with friends

Fun = trying a new eggplant/roasted red pepper recipe

Fun = picking up Banjo Man at the airport  (hurray!!)

Fun = lunch & festivities in Montana

Fun = kayaking with Banjo Man

These are the things I remind myself of when the alarm goes off at you-know-when.

So…if I appear a little sleepy or dopey or glassy-eyed or if you catch me yawning at inappropriate times and if you’ve realized that I think 9 PM is late, well, it’s because I’m trying to have a life and still write a book.

And that’s how I’m going to get through this!!!

Love,

MorePie

friday night: center stage

2013-09-06 027

Retired Mountain Lady, also a member of Hope Mountain Blues and the Cougar Creek Band, plays with Running With Scissors on Friday nights at Trinity restaurant.  Last week was supposed to have been the last gig, but the band was asked back for one more Friday night before winter sets in…

Winter.  Not a happy thought.

DMP and I nabbed a table right up front, ordered ravioli and burgers and caught the last two sets as the sun went down and the air chilled.

Retired Mountain Lady never sounded better. The woman never stops playing music!!!

We like that about her.

This reminds me of a Kaffe Fassett quilt!

We had a blast here.  I wished I could take one of Holly’s classes and release my inner artist, but I’m not sure I have an inner artist.  I guess you don’t know until you look, right?  Paint scares me a little.  Unlike fabric, which begs me to buy it and cut it up and sew it back together again.

My inner artist likes cotton.
